Reading: Character Study

Task Discription: Todays's blog post is from my reading class in room 11&12,our teacher Mrs Ilaoa. This week we were learning all about protesters, for this task I had to do a character study about a person who was mainly in the story. The person I did character study about was Nelson Mandela because he was the first black person to become the president of South Africa.

  1. Kia ora Alison, thank you for featuring Nelson Mandela as your character study. He is a hero of mine too! A long time ago I went to university in South Africa and was part of some of the protests in Natal for Mandela's release. I was part of an organisation called NUSAS which stands for National Union of South African students. It was quite a scary time to be a protester in South Africa during the apartheid years. Apartheid or 'apart-hood' means segregation or separation. I have really enjoyed celebrating Nelson Mandela's memory again. Thank you!
